Renowned for his cutting-edge work, Jannes Erasmus is making headlines in each facet of his field with more than 20 award nominations, which include 6 Naledi Theatre nominations.
The National Arts Festival honors him with the PANSA writers award for his script ’Smaarties’ and his one-on-one theatre piece ’SWEM’ gets nominated for best script at the ATKV Woordveertjies. SWEM which forms part of DEURnis recently received the KykNET Fiësta Bloustoel award for Best Cutting Edge Theatre. As head writer of a KykNET Silwerskerm shortfilm, his words made their first debut on the big screen. He is the presenter of ATKV-Tienertoneel – the biggest teen theatre competition in South Africa and also adjudicates theatre festivals including ‘Kampus Toneel’ hosted by the NWU Pukke.
Directing is his way of bringing the images in his head to life, ‘AS’ was his first attempt at professional directing in 2016, this production won the Naledi Theatre Award for Best Cutting Edge production 2016/17.
Vir.Ander is his latest creation that is still making headlines all over SA since the premiere at the South African State Theatre.
Jannes is currently the Creative Director of the record company InhoudHuis Musiek, writing storylines, directing and producing music videos for the biggest names in the Afrikaans Music Industry.
